  • NEVER shop when you’re hungry
  • Carry a healthy snack for hunger emergencies

graph-line-chart
Everyone wants to lose weight in a linear fashion and keep it off-as seen in the graph to the far left.  This rarely ever happens.  Most successful people lose in spurts; losing, re-gaining a bit, then restarting-as seen in the graph to the far right.

The key is to accept this natural rhythm, set a stop point for yourself, and get back on the program any time you find yourself moving away from your goal.  Weigh yourself each week and pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Live Smart

There are certain times of the year when people seem more likely to put on extra pounds.  Cold weather, for example, tends to make us less active.  Holidays and vacations are, by far, our biggest challenges when delicious, calorie-laden foods take center stage.  Being aware of our personal temptations and planning ahead will allow us to make the healthy choices in the preceding weeks so we can partake without inching too far above our goal weight.
